Flash MX2 Tool: FLVbrowser ( preview )
The screenshot you see above ( click image for a larger screenshot ) is a new tool i am working on right now, a FLVbrowser that let's you preview Flash Video Files ( *.FLV files ) without opening Flash. It's quite handy if you have a lot of FLV files and don't want to import them, or if you don't have access to a Flash Communication Server. Right now it's in a rough state, there is loads to optimize and the user does need the Flash OCX ( Flash Player ) installed. If you are interested in this application, let me know!
I will post the final version here for you to download. It is written in C# and requires the .NET framework.
this is interesting although i'm still not sure how you create *.flv files? i've installed the flash video exporter but it didn't seem to notify me on how i could do the actual exporting???

very handy owen!
why is it written in c#, isn't it possible to use screenweaver (or maybe we have to wait on the new version on that one)
ps) nice blog you have going here!

@Jos: thank you. why it is written in C#? Mainly because it gives me the power of Java on the desktop, and with the development of Mono, i hope one day a crossplatform solution too. other than that no special reason. I could have written this tool in VB, or in Delphi, or in C++, or as you suggested, in Flash and package it with ScreenWeaver....doesn't really matter.
For now, it's just a proof of concept, nothing more then a test to see if it works, and learning how to use the Flash OCX in C#. I will rewrite most of the code, it's a mess right now.

I am very interested in this handy app... i'll be checking back regurarely for it!

Although I would have used Screenweaver, the tool doesn't matter; this will be a very useful app for people! By creating easy ways like this to access FLV files, we'll hopefully help position Flash as the de-facto standard for Web Video.
Right on, mangxt!

As one of the Screenweaver 3 authors, I'd love to be of some help if you'd like to implement a Screenweaver version...

@Martijn: he collega! ( reply in english so other people can read it too )
first off, nice to see you blogging...homegrown Coldfusion system and looks very nice already. I will add you to my list.
second, i am not really planning to release a ScreenWeaver version, because the screenshot is merely a proof of concept. I am working right now to implement some new cool features, exporting, multiple players that kind of stuff. Also i am reshuffling the User-Interface ( actually, i could use some expertise from you on this :) ) to a more pleasant experience, the one shown is very simple.

great to see more delevelopers having fun with the videoaspect! and yes, I am very interested in your FLVbrowser Owen..
what do you guys think about the media components overal?
I think the cuepoints are cool, I made something similar just with an XML cuelist, but what I don't get is why we have to give up the lenght of the video as a parameter just to get the progressbar going..?
anyway, beste groetjes ;)

Anyone know of a good tool to CREATE flv files using C#? I'm trying to convert from Quicktime or mpgs and can't find a thing short of using the FLV exporter.
