I personally really enjoyed Ryan's article. And although he did present a hypothetical problem (which he admitted was just a story) it was one I have dealt with for most of my time as a web developer.

I never look forward to a new browser being released because it always causes more trouble for me. What will work, what wont work...its a nightmare.

However I have very little concern over flash player releases because I have never had a backwards compatibility problem. I am sure it could happen in the future, but for now, when I launch the code I know its gonna run.

So FUD aside, those are the facts that matter to me.

@Owen: I'm glad that someone else can see through the FUD thats being spread about Ajax.
